Justice Surya Kant was appointed as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. Justice Surya Kant was a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The post of Chief Justice in Himachal Pradesh High Court has been vacant since April 2017.

Mukesh Ambani Richest Indian For 11th Consecutive Year
Reliance Industries’ Chairman Mukesh Ambani has emerged as the richest Indian for the 11th consecutive year with a net worth of USD 47.3 billion, according to Forbes magazine. Ambani is also the year’s biggest gainer, adding USD 9.3 billion to his wealth amid the continuing success of his Reliance Jio broadband telco service.
Manipur clinch Women’s National Football Championship crown
Manipur claimed victory in the final of the 24th Senior Women’s National Football Championships, defeating hosts Odisha in the summit clash by a 2-1 margin in Cuttack. The result marked the 19th occasion that the state from the northeast of India won the trophy. The final held at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha.

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated globally on 5th October. The WTD 2018 will mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) that recognizes education as a key fundamental right and establishes an entitlement to free compulsory education, ensuring inclusive and equitable access for all children. The theme for this year’s WTD is ‘The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher’.

The UNICEF has appointed Ravi Venkatesan has its special representative of young people. His new role will provide strategic guidance and support UNICEF globally with high-level outreach, partnerships and scaling innovations.
