67th plenary meeting of North Eastern Council
The 67th plenary meeting of North Eastern Council (NEC) was recently held in Shillong, Meghalaya. It was chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.


Jeremy Hunt appointed new UK foreign secretary
British Prime Minister Theresa may appointed Jeremy Hunt as Foreign Secretary. This appointment has come after Boris Johnson resigned from the post in protest at the government’s Brexit plan.


South Korean President Moon Jae-in visits India
South Korean President Moon Jae-in arrived in Delhi, India for his four-day visit. He will visit the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold a discussion on key issues such as the situation on the Korean peninsula, and ways to boost trade and defence cooperation.


2 satellites were launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch center
Pakistan launched 2 indigenously built satellites named PRSS-1 and PAK-TES-1A into the orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in China, through a Chinese-made launch vehicle.


Siddhanta scales world’s highest volcano
Satyarup Siddhanta has become the 2nd Indian mountaineer after Malli Mastan Babu to climb Mt Ojos del Salado, the highest volcano in the world. Ojos del Salado is a stratovolcano in the Andes on the Argentina-Chile border and the highest active volcano in the world at 6,893 metres.


World Heritage meeting closes
The 42nd World Heritage Committee meeting closed in Bahrain’s capital Manama, with 19 new sites inscribed to the World Heritage List. The World Heritage List now contains 1,092 sites in 167 countries.


Sreejesh to lead Indian Hockey team
Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will lead the 18-member Indian men’s hockey squad while Chinglensana Singh Kangujam will serve as his deputy in the 18th Asian Games, which will begin in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia in August 2018.


Actor Kavi Kumar Azad passes away at 46
Actor Kavi Kumar Azaad, known for playing the character of Dr Hansraaj Hathi on popular sitcom “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma”, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.
