‘Operation Olympics’ commences in Kerala
‘Operation Olympics’, an expert programme to train athletes in 11 disciplines has commenced in Kerala. The Kerala sports department and the state sports council are preparing the 123 athletes, who are participating in the programme. The objective of ‘Operation Olympics’ is to provide international standard training with the help of eminent trainers from both India & abroad.
Govt declares sugarcane juice as ‘national drink’ of Pakistan
The government of Pakistan has declared sugarcane juice as the ‘national drink’ of the country. Poll includes three option including orange juice, carrot juice and sugarcane juice. But it is sugarcane juice which won the poll with 81 percent votes. Over 7,600 people participated in the poll and declared sugarcane as national drink ok Pakistan with 81 percent votes. 15 percent of the participants voted in favor of orange juice while 4 percent choose carrot juice.
Cyril Ramphosa was the Chief Guest on this Republic Day
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa begins a two-day India visit today, primarily to grace the Republic Day celebrations as the guest of honour. Ramaphosa will be accompanied by First Lady Dr Tshepo Motsepe, and a high-level delegation including nine ministers, senior officials, and a 50-member business contingent.
NRL receives ‘Best Miniratna PSU’ award
Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has been awarded the best miniratna PSU in strategic performance (financial category) at the Governance Now Sixth PSU awards. The award, comprising of a trophy, was presented to NRL MD S K Barua by Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari at an award function held in New Delhi.
Dhirendra nath chakravathi to be conferred with Republic Day Journalism Award
The ‘Republic Day Journalism Award 2019′ will be conferred upon Dhirendra Nath Chakraborty, veteran journalist & former Editor of Dainik Asom, Dainik janambhumi and Ajir batori Kakot newspapers. The award which would be presented under the aegis of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), contains Rupees 1 Lakh, a citation, a memento, xaraai, jaapi and an angabastra.
Jayant Kaikini Wins DSC Prize for South Asian Literature
Noted Kannada writer Jayant Kaikani won the 2018 edition of the DSC South Asian Literature Prize for his short story collection No Presents Please. The $25,000 prize was jointly awarded to Kaikini and Tejaswini Niranjana, the translator of the book, at the Tata Steel Kolkata Literary Meet.
