About Engineering Jobs
The process of utilizing knowledge and principles to design, build, and analyze objects is called Engineering. Engineering is a necessary element for most items that require construction and has several branches of expertise including civil, electrical, mechanical, and chemical. Some fields have such a high demand for engineering that positions have been formed that solely deal with the engineering aspect of a project. The discipline of engineering is extremely broad and encompasses a range of more specialized fields of engineering, each with a more specific emphasis on particular areas of applied science, technology and types of application. Basically, the word “Engineering” derived from latin word ‘Ingenium’ which means cleverness. we can also say that “ENGINEERING is the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences gained by study, experience, and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize economically the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of mankind. One who practices engineering is called an Engineer. The world is upgrading and seeing clearly because of the importance of engineering profession in our society. Engineering is a key driver of innovation and human development.
Today in our world ‘Engineering’ is very important discipline. From earlier history, it was proved that Engineering which has made work easy and improves the standard of living. Because of the efforts of engineering, all of the world gaining development day by day. intuition or judgment to develop ways to use economically, the materials or forces of nature for the benefit of mankind is the importance of this profession. The major Sectors & Areas which gaining lot of development from Engineering are Agriculture, Defence, Banking, Automobile, Education, Marketing, and Health sectors. Due to the advancement in the agricultural practice, agriculture has developed a strong link with the field of engineering. It is because of the magnitude of this link that leads to the creation of agricultural engineering, which is among the branches of engineering. The use of machines in Agriculture makes this area more commercial, profitable and easy to access from last decades and giving more output. Engineers use their knowledge of science, mathematics, logic, economics, and appropriate experience or tacit knowledge to find suitable solutions to a problem.
Many students have a dream to become an Engineer. There are many courses available in India after 10th and 12th standard in Engineering. The two main course formats available in India when students are passed out from 10th & 12th standard are Diploma in Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology (B.E. or B.Tech.). Diploma in Engineering is 3 years long course. Diploma course can be pursued after completing 10th standard from a recognized board, and B.E. or B.Tech. the program lasts for a period of 4 years. This course can be pursued after completing 12th standard (Science stream- Mathematics group). In short, 12th passed with Science stream subjects is the minimum qualification required. Relevant entrance exams, JEE, State-wise CETs, Institute-wise CETs are some main tests of Engineering entrance. In India, there are several engineering colleges imparting undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering, applied engineering, and sciences. Some major institute of Engineering in India are Institutes of Technology (IITs), Institution of Engineers(India), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Jadavpur University,Kolkata, Anna University Chennai, lovely professional university Punjab, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Gujarat Technological University, Hindustan University, Manipal University, VIT University, AMRITA University and University of Mumbai, Karnataka VTU Visvesvaraya Technological University, GITAM university are the renowned and reputed institutes in the country. In total, more than 5,000 universities and colleges offer engineering courses in India.
Roles and Skills
In the profession of Engineering, the main roles & skills are Design, Analysis, Test, Development, Research, Management and Consulting. Mainly Design process is to converts concepts and information into detailed plans and specifications that dictate the development and manufacturing of a product or process or system. Performs mathematical and computer modeling of the problem, based on mathematics, science, and engineering science and using engineering software called Analysis. Develops and conducts tests to verify a selected design, product, process meets all specifications involves in the development of product, process, or system, and often acts as an intermediary between design and test engineers. Research is the one of the major roles in Engineering which Involves in the creation of new knowledge by exploring mathematics, sciences, and engineering sciences to look for new answers or insights that will contribute to the advancement of engineering.
Types of Engineering
There are many branches of engineering, each of which specializes in specific technologies and products. Typically engineers will have deep knowledge in one area and basic knowledge in related areas. Architectural Engineering & Building engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering. Software Engineering and Management Engineering are some major branches in Engineering. The application of physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering principles in order to carry out chemical processes on a commercial scale, such as petroleum refining, microfabrication, fermentation, and biomolecule production called Chemical Engineering. Civil engineering is to design and construction of public and private works, such as infrastructure (airports, roads, railways, water supply, and treatment etc.), bridges, dams, and buildings. The design and manufacture of physical or mechanical systems, such as power and energy systems, aerospace/aircraft products, weapon systems, transportation products, engines, compressors, powertrains, kinematic chains, vacuum technology, vibration isolation equipment, manufacturing, and mechatronics called Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge and practicality are the most important thing in a job. The engineering profession engages in a wide range of activities, from large collaboration at the societal level, and also smaller individual projects. Almost all engineering projects are obligated to some sort of financing agency: a company, a set of investors, or a government. Core companies are the one that specializes in particular sectors and are highly valued for their level of expertise and professionalism in their respective areas of operation. India is developing and becoming the big hub for major companies in the Automobile sector, Real Estate, Mining, Electrical and much more. Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and ONGC are the companies which are engaged in exploration & production of Oil & Gas in India & Abroad. These types of companies require huge no. of employees from engineering profession. BEL, BHEL, Coal India, SAIL, BEML, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) L&T Construction are also major industries for Engineering Job profile.
